Troubleshooting

Penny Won't Start

  1. Check Ollama is running: Open Terminal, type ollama serve

  2. Verify model is installed: ollama list should show "llama3"

  3. Check system requirements: 8GB+ RAM, recent macOS version

Performance Issues

  • Slow responses: Normal for first few messages as models warm up

  • High memory usage: Expected - AI models require significant RAM

  • Restart if needed: Close Penny, restart Ollama, relaunch

  • All your conversations and memories are stored in:
    ~/penny-memories/

  • Back this up regularly - Copy folder to external drive or cloud storage

  • Easy to transfer - Copy folder to new machine when upgrading
